Free Speech Coalition is honored to have Adam and Eve founder Phil Harvey as its keynote speaker, at its upcoming Membership Meeting. The meeting will be held on February 11, from 12:30-1:45pm, during the XBIZ Conference 2009, at the Warner Center Marriott, in Woodland Hills, Calif.

Harvey co-founded Adam and Eve in 1972, as a mail order company. It quickly grew to become one of the largest retailers of adult products in the world.

From 1986 to 1993, Harvey and his company battled and eventually successfully defeated charges leveled against Adam and Eve by the Justice Department and then-Attorney General Edwin Meese, defending rights of freedom of expression; the case is chronicled in 'The Government vs. Erotica: The Siege of Adam and Eve,' which was authored by Harvey in 2001. Harvey also is primary sponsor of The Liberty Project, a nonprofit organization which raises awareness about Free Speech issues.

In addition to his role as an advocate of Free Speech, he is also a lifelong philanthropist in the area of family planning and is the President of DKT Enterprises, a charity organization that subsidizes family planning efforts and birth control in countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America. He is the former Deputy Director of CARE/India, and author of 'Let Every Child Be Wanted: How Social Marketing Is Revolutionizing Contraceptive Use Around the World.'

'Phil Harvey is a founding member of the adult industry, and has spent much his life dedicated to doing good work in the areas of Free Speech, as well as family planning resources in underprivileged areas,' FSC Executive Director Diane Duke said. 'He has been on the front lines of anti-adult prosecution and won, which has benefited the industry overall. As a philanthropist, his generosity and positive contributions have helped people all over the world. We are proud to have him as an FSC member and our keynote speaker.' In addition to Harvey's appearance, the Membership Meeting will include the introduction of the FSC 2009 Board of Directors.

Following the introduction, new FSC Member Benefits for 2009 will be announced, and Duke also will make a brief presentation on the State of the Association for the current year. The meeting is open to XBIZ Conference participants and FSC members.
